I/61 EARLY CARTHAGINIAN 550 BC - 275 BC

The city of Carthage started as a colony planted on the North African coast (in modern Tunisia) by a Phoenician rebel Queen (Dido). It grew into a powerful trading state, which would become Rome’s most dangerous rival when their colonialist expansions collided in Sicily. This list covers the armies from Mago’s institution of a largely mercenary army until the end of the war in Sicily against Pyrrhos of Epiros. References: Armies of the Macedonian and Punic Wars D.
